Trainer to the Pet Stars
Dove Cresswell is the creator of the Puppy and Dog Training Online programme. Cresswell has been a professional animal trainer for the past five years and has already earned a reputation for her unique approach to training dogs for film, television, and commercials.
Dove has experience training many different breeds of dogs and other animals such as large reptiles, rodents, birds and deer. Dove is able to train any breed of dog from basic to advanced level obedience. She teaches simple tricks, movie tricks and up to Master’s level in agility. Dove has worked on many feature films: Saved! and Sam’s Lake; TV shows: Romeo, Behind the Camera: Charlie’s Angels, and Cougar Crossings; and commercials, including: The Source.
As a teenager Dove Cresswell began to develop her interest in dog training, she had a Labrador puppy and attended some obedience classes which sparked a real interest in increasing her skills. She would spend hours in her backyard setting up obstacle courses for her pup and taught him many new tricks. From this experience Dove developed an interest in all animals and spent time volunteering at an animal hospital and the SPCA.
After studying Science and Biology at University Dove found herself working on an animal docu-drama. She was able to prove that she could handle the young cougars and attributes this to having been fortunate enough to study dog training with many top trainers.
Cresswell believes that there is more than one way to train a dog. Every dog, and every dog owner is different and some methods work better than others for certain dogs and owners. Having the opportunity to learn dog training from several different sources has also added a flexibility and creativity in Dove’s training. She knows that sometimes you just have to get creative and try something you think might work. Sometimes you get results, sometimes you don’t!
Dove is passionate about keeping up to date with new methods in dog training and believes there is always more to learn. She owns a large collection of training books, which keep her looking for new ideas. There are many videos, even old ones, that she uses as a source for new ideas. Dove participates in weekend training seminars; courses and competitions to stay current and constantly improve herself as a trainer.
Dove’s motto is that dog training should be fun! Everything you do with your dog should be fun! Unless you are teaching your dog not to do something absolutely everything should be trained in an upbeat and positive manner. The more training you do with your dog, the more fun you are going to have with your dog. You’ll have a happier, more confident and better behaved dog. Dove always end training with a play session! Training should be fun for both you and your dog!
